National Museum of Natural History....

The National Museum of Natural History building was built in 1911 to accommodate the growing collection that was originally at the Smithsonian Castle and then moved to the National Museum Building. Some parts of the museum are rather outdated, especially the Hall of Bones and casings which show birds collected in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Other exhibits include dinosaurs, mammals, geology, gemstones, human origins, and the ocean.

This museum is popular for children so it can be crowded. The Dinosaur Hall is undergoing a massive increase and will reopen in 2019 so that it will be busy for a while.

The entrance that is accessible to the museum is located at Constitutional Ave. If you park on Madison Drive, as we did, take a little time to walk / roll past the Sculpture Park and Pollinator Park . Parks and exhibitions in the museum are accessible.

We park at Madison Drive, which is located south of the museum. DC recently implemented parking fees along the road where previous parking was free. On most roads, it costs $ 2.00 per hour to be paid by credit card or telephone application. Spaces are not marked with lines so that the cost of RVs is the same as the cost of the car. The maximum time is 3 hours, same as before. In the past this was not enforced but now it is necessary to pay attention to the time that places wrinkles on long trips or long museum visits. The benefits of parking fees are easily found spaces. The space to be filled at 9:30 a.m. is still available at 12:00. Museum   38.89205, -77.02597
